
Area Director of Sales
We are looking for an Area Director of Sales to join our Roanoke hotel teams! The Area Director of Sales is responsible for overseeing and driving sales performance across multiple properties; Springhill Suites by Marriott Roanoke and Hampton Inn & Suites Roanoke - Downtown. This leadership role includes developing strategic plans, managing a team of sales managers and sales coordinators, and ensuring that revenue targets are achieved or exceeded. The Area Director of Sales plays a key role in business development, client relationship management, and market expansion.

Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue goals across assigned portfolio.
· Lead, coach, and mentor a team of sales managers to high performance.
· Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and industry partners.
· Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to align sales initiatives with broader business goals.
· Prepare and present sales forecasts, performance reports, and strategic plans to senior leadership.
· Ensure consistent execution of the company’s sales processes, tools, and policies.
· Recruit, train, and retain top sales talent across the area including conducting weekly one-on-ones.
· Conduct ongoing performance development and Career Development Plans.
· Conduct annual reviews for all direct reports.
· Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and business development.
· Produce your hotels Annual Multi-Year Commercial Strategy Plan, in partnership with property leaders and regional support
· Connect the performance needs for the hotels with the solutions designed by the brand in each key segment your hotel serves
· Directly accountable for setting the strategy and delivery of your hotels’ revenues including group rooms, banquets, business transient and leisure transient
· Support hotel B2B marketing, digital marketing, social media, public relations, and communications activities. Guide the e-Commerce teams to ensure online hotel content is accurate and effective
· Develop and execute departmental expense budget and forecasts
· Lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly Commercial Strategy Calls for hotels. Convert the outcome of the optimization process into actionable business strategies and articulate those strategies
· Own performance and commercial activity reporting for your complex (i.e., performance status communication, Delphi processes and response plans)
· Build strong relationships with CVB (Convention Visitor s Bureau), community influencers and 3rd party travel partners
· High-level of engagement with customers from all sales segments
· Support of team’s high impact site visits, pre-convention meetings and client events
· Support of sales managers sales travel into feeder markets

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· 3-5 years of hotel sales experience or equivalent industry experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Knowledge of Hilton & Marriott systems and Delphi a plus.
· Multi-Property Sales Leadership experience a plus
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to cultivate a productive team that embodies PEACH.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment where priorities are constantly changing.
· Ability to work overtime and/or irregular hours.
